Quick and Easy Biscuit Recipe: Mary Berry Oat Biscuits
You can't beat a soft crunchy biscuit with a nice cuppa, can you? So I'm sharing this very simple Mary Berry Oat Biscuit Recipe with you to celebrate National Biscuit Day on 29th May. I love Mary Berry's biscuits and her recipes as they are so easy to follow and perfect for amateur bakers like me. Let me know what you think!
I usually end up making Mary Berry Fork Biscuits. But I looked around for something new to share with you this time. I don't know about you but I don't want to spend hours in the kitchen baking. I want something with 3 or 4 ingredients that can be mixed, baked and devoured in less than an hour! These Oat Biscuits ticked all the boxes.
Ingredients
- 50g caster sugar
- 100g of butter (softened)
- 100g porridge oats (rolled oats work better than jumbo oats)
- 50g plain flour
Makes about 16-18 biscuits
Method
- Pre-heat the oven to 160°C. Lightly grease 2 baking trays.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and caster sugar.
- Add in the porridge oats and plain flour. Gently fold everything together. Don't overdo it!
- Lightly dust a clean surface or worktop saver with flour to prevent sticking.
- Place the dough on top and gently knead until smooth.
- Use a rolling pin (or empty glass bottle) and roll out the dough to about 5mm thick.
- If you don't have a biscuit cutter, use a mug and carefully cut out your biscuits, or roll the dough into a small ball and flatten with a fork (this is Mary Berry's technique with her Fork Biscuit Recipe)
- Place the biscuits onto the baking trays leaving a bit of space between each one.
- Pop tray into the oven for about 20 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden brown.
- Once golden, remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Try to resist the urge to eat them at this point.
- Make your favourite cuppa, grab your favourite serving plate, dish or tray and dish up your delicious batch of Mary Berry Oat Biscuits.
